Garnant is a village in Carmarthenshire about five miles east of Ammanford on the A474. During the early part of the 20th century it was the site of a tinplate works and several anthracite coal mines. It lies on the edge of the Black Mountain, in the westernmost part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. It has a public golf club and a new primary/junior school. Poor planning of the latter is blamed by local residents for flooding problems.

Famous people from Garnant
John Cale musician, songwriter, record producer and founding member of the Velvet Underground.
Jack 'Tex' Evans Ice Hockey player and coach in the NHL.
