Mike Peters

Mike Peters
Mike Peters (born February 25, 1959), is a Welsh musician, best known as the leader of The Alarm.

Peters was born in Prestatyn, north Wales (where The Alarm played their first gig in 1981). He began his musical career with amateur bands in the mid-1970s, and was greatly influenced by the punk rock and new wave music of the time. In 1991, The Alarm split up after a few hits, the best-known of which was "68 Guns". In 1996, Peters made a recovery from lymph cancer, and began recording and touring again, sometimes with the re-formed band. He also presented a regular show called Bedrock on BBC Radio Wales. Since 1993, he has held an annual "gathering" at Llandudno.

In 2004, Peters came eleventh in an on-line poll to find 100 Welsh Heroes. In 2005, he discovered that he was suffering from chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. He has since announced a remission of this and has appeared in a documentary for BBC Wales chronicling his succesful battle with cancer.
