The Welsh Icons Project receives no funding from any body (government or otherwise) whatsoever. It is run on a shoe string budget. With over 1,500,000 hits a month (yes, that’s a million and a half!) and over 5,000 pages, the site has become a victim of its own success.

We have tried without success  for the last two and a half years to secure funding for the site, which is used as the first port of call for those wanting to know more about Wales and the Welsh (try typing ‘welsh things’ into Google), and it is only due to the generosity of a handful of sponsors (see Our Sponsors) that the site has managed to survive.

As a politically agnostic, independent site which we know is valued by its many users both young and old, which solely tries to promote Wales, Welsh History, Welsh Culture, the Geography of Wales and encourage tourism, I’m sure that you would agree that closure of the site would be a great loss to our nation.
