Gaudy Orde at The Cricketers
Feb 25th, 2011 | By admin | Category: Cardiff, Choice
Food and real ale pub The Cricketers in Pontcanna is kicking off a series of varied musical evenings on the last Sunday of each month – starting this Sunday February 27th. All events are Free Entry.
After the rugby, Gaudy Orde will be taking their Ukeleles, Bouzoukis and multifarious percussion on stage at 5.30 pm – with their tongues firmly behind their musical cheeks.
The band members names (Romany Bob, Barry Sidings, Jeff Japers, Helen Spoons & Michael Claxon) are as improbable as their song titles.
Songs such as “Kill all the violent dogs” and “The Size of Wales” are blessed with extremely funny lyrics sometimes in the mould of the late Jake Thackeray.
Expect much spoofery and amusing banter – Its very much a music and comedy show in sadly fading tradition of the Bonzos – complete with silly sound effects and general bonhomie.
Michelle Francis, manager at The Cricketers said : “We’re l really looking forward to kicking off these regular music events. We will be hosting a wide variety of music including a special Celtic session with The Interalia on Friday 11th March to get us all in the right frame of mind for Wales v Ireland the following day !”
David Brockwell, promoter said: “Gaudy Orde are seriously good fun ! We are delighted they are going to be entertaining us all after the Rugby on Sunday.”
Dates are also lined up for special Evan Evans music weekends across all the brewery’s venues as part of a committment to support live music across Wales.
