Cardiff Council’s Trading Standards is advising owners of Verve 42cm Heated Propagators sold at B&Q to stop using the products immediately following a discovery that a fault has been identified with a small number of them.

Despite rigorous quality control procedures it has been brought to B&Q’s attention that this particular propagator may overheat when in use, therefore, as a precaution, the manufacturer is recalling those already sold. The affected product code is:

08643BQ 04084716

If you have purchased one of the affected propagators since August 2010, you should return it immediately to your local B&Q store where a full refund will be given.

Cardiff Council’s head of Regulatory and Supporting Services, Dave Holland, said: “Cardiff Council takes safety very seriously and I urge anyone with this product to return it to B&Q immediately.”

All other propagation equipment sold by B&Q is unaffected.
