MP Supports Community Champion Award

David Jones MP is supporting the NFU Community Champion Award – an award designed to recognise the vital role farmers play in their local community.

Applications are invited from throughout Wales from those farmers who use their spare time away from the farm to help their local community. The winner will receive £500 and the runners-up £100 each.

David Jones said:

“I support this award which recognises the roles farmers play in their local communities on a voluntary basis. This is, of course, the very essence of the Big Society.

“I encourage those who know of any farmers, who take time out of their busy days to help those around them, to show how much their contribution is valued by taking the time to nominate them.”

The closing date for entries is Friday, 15th June 2012 and the winner will be announced on the Thursday of this year’s Royal Welsh Show.

Anyone interested in entering can contact NFU Cymru for further details.
