Ramsay: 164 job losses at Panasonic

Mar 5th, 2012 | By | Category: Employment, Newport, Politics

Commenting on the news that Panasonic is shedding 164 jobs at Newport by transferring work to Vietnam, Nick Ramsay AM, Shadow Minister for Business, Enterprise, Technology & Science, said:

“This very sad and worrying news for the workers affected and their families.

“This is further evidence of the fragile nature of the Welsh economy and the need for Welsh Labour Ministers to help make Wales a more attractive place to do business.

“Last weeks’ report into inward investment made for disturbing reading about the decline in foreign based businesses investing in Wales.

“Today’s news should provide further motivation to the Welsh Government to start taking action to provide the conditions for economic growth.”
