Davies: Funding must follow learners after education review

May 18th, 2010 | By | Category: Education, Politics

Responding to today’s statement on the Assembly Government review into education funding, Shadow Education Minister Paul Davies AM said:

“It is crucial phase one of this review, and indeed the second phase, highlights weaknesses in the system and that the Welsh Assembly Government acts swiftly and effectively to eradicate them.

“It is clear these recommendations need to be addressed and acted on effectively in order that the pupil funding gap does not continue to grow.

“I hope the minister will ensure education funding is spent on learners in Wales and that it starts making a difference in ensuring money which should be spent on education actually reaches the frontline.

“The findings of this review must develop a stronger education system in Wales where bureaucracy is reduced and vital funding reaches learners.”
