Caerphilly is better connected

Caerphilly county borough council’s website is leading the way in Wales in terms of user satisfaction levels.
The website has been assessed as part of a national survey undertaken by SOCITM UK (Society of Information Technology Management) called ‘Better Connected 2010′.
The council’s popular website was recognised as an example of good practice for its interactive features that give residents access to a wide range of online services including paying council bills, applying for jobs, requesting collection of bulky waste items and reporting fly-tipping etc.
The Caerphilly website was judged to have the highest net satisfaction levels in the whole of the UK. The site also received positive feedback in a number of other key areas including accessibility, speed of response and website resilience.
Cllr Colin Mann, CCBC cabinet member for finance and resources, said, “We are delighted with these survey results and hope to build on this success by providing even better online services in the future. We are always looking at new ways to make the council more accessible to residents, so developing an effective website is a key part of this agenda.”
The SOCITM report also stated that ‘Caerphilly has produced a super online services section which lists the facilities clearly and simply and also provides a link to supporting information. This makes it particularly easy to use and also gives a professional image of the council.’
Better Connected is an annual survey of the 433 local authority websites in Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as a range of other public sector sites, including fire and police services, government agencies and third sector bodies.
The website receives over 100,000 hits each month on average and boasts over 2,500 pages of information. The site also hosts a number of ‘mini sites’ focusing on issues such as community safety, fostering, tourist attractions and leisure facilities etc.
